AMERICAN SAMPLER

[works on paper]

2018-2020

When California went into lockdown, I set about trying to make sense of the imposed order and ensuing chaos of life during quarantine. Black Lives Matter, death counts, environmental disasters, and politics filled the news. I began documenting the minutiae of daily life with an even greater attention to detail. Using obsessive mark-making combined with both abstract and observational approaches, the works in American Sampler are from an ongoing body of works on paper and photographs I’ve made in response to the ‘new normal’ and epic moments that have acted as catalysts for social change during the 2020 Pandemic.
